If you're not from London and are coming for the first time, you may need a little assistance in identifying the right part of London for your trip. It's a huge city with 7 million inhabitants, and its boroughs and districts have their own distinct characters. So here's our guide to helping you find the right part of London for your London Serviced Apartment.
City of London - Steeped in history and with its own unique local governance, the square mile is the home of London's traditional financial and banking industry. Throbbing with workers all week and much quieter at the weekends, and plenty of historic sites on your doorstep. Public transport connections are very good. Mayfair - Famously upmarket nowadays, but before gentrification, this was where a raucus, bawdy fortnightly fair took place every year. Fabulous townhouses, designer boutique shopping and the whiff of old money are the hallmarks of Mayfair. Pimlico - It's closeness to the houses of Parliament make this the preferred choice of much of the political class. You will find grand houses and grander squares. This is actually our tip for New Year's Eve if you want somewhere within walking distance of the river and fireworks but that is otherwise nice and quiet. Chelsea - If fashion shopping is your thing, the world famous King's Road in Chelsea will be right up your street. Canary Wharf - The new financial district to rival the City of London has sprung up in East London with a Manhatten style skyline. You will find impressive buildings, a sense of modernity and newness and good transport links into the rest of London using the DLR and Jubilee Line. Bayswater - A cosmopolitan part of Westminster with a notable arab population - very close to the huge Hyde Park. Labels: london Thursday, June 11, 2009Canary Wharf Short, Medium and Long Term Stays
Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs has been a huge success story, and now rivals the City of London as being the UK's financial centre.
One area in which the Wharf is lacking though is in high end hotels, so if you're visiting Canary Wharf, maybe you should consider a serviced apartment? We have plenty of great serviced apartments listed on our Canary Wharf page, but if you are looking for a stay of at least a week and possibly a lot longer, we recommend Canary Riverside for a luxury stay that offers a true home from home - however long you need it. To check availability and prices for stays at Canary Riverside of more than one week, visit our dedicated page and complete the enquiry form - someone will get back to you ASAP (within business hours) with all the information you need. If you've turned on the TV at all lately, you will have seen the world's leaders congregating at the Excel Centre in East London for the G20 summit. Now, I don't know what their accommodation details are like but if they had sense, they would checked out nearby serviced apartments.
A serviced apartment would have offered them a luxury flat that could have been a true home from home. If you're visiting the Excel conference centre, you might want to check out Serviced apartments in Canary Wharf. Labels: london Tuesday, December 2, 2008Enjoy New Year's Eve In Style
Cities around the UK will be competing to put on a show this New Year's Eve. London will be spending over a million pounds on fireworks by the river, and Edinburgh is of course famous for its hogmanay party.
If you're heading out this New Year's Eve, then a serviced apartment is the great value way to get smart accommodation before you go out. Unlike hotels, serviced apartments have proper rooms, so you have a bathroom, and bedroom to get ready in, and a lounge for early evening drinks. Then, when we're in the early hours of 2009, you and your friends can crash back at the flat for some much needed shut eye. Your own serviced apartment is the sophisticated and civilised way to see in the new year. If you're going to be spending NYE in the capital, check out Serviced Apartments in London. The news channels are really lapping up the financial crisis. One of the their favourite things is to go and send their anchors/reporters to the City as if standing in the street enhances the coverage any more than being in a studio, but I guess it adds to the drama.
But of their most annoying habits is to put on the caption "Live: The City", when they are quite clearly standing in Canary Wharf. Note to news editors: The City is not Canary Wharf, and Canary Wharf is not The City. Luckily we know the difference, as demonstrated by these pages dedicated to serviced flats in London's two top financial districts: Labels: london Monday, September 29, 2008A Home From Home in Docklands
The Canary Wharf area in East London is London's up and coming financial district. Increasing numbers of companies have made the move from the Square Mile across to the brand new developments in E14. Impressive buildings, a Manhatten-style sky line, great transport links and top quality shops are all hallmarks of the new Docklands area.
If you're visiting Canary Wharf and looking for a home from home - a serviced apartment can offer you the space, privacy and level of comfort you are looking for. There's a number of serviced apartments available in the area which offer a convenient alternative to hotels. Click here to see the list of serviced apartments in Canary Wharf. Labels: london |
