Oscar Wilde’s grandson opens new premium aparthotel in London

A NEW premium aparthotel from Dublin-based Staycity has been officially opened in London.

Merlin Holland, grandson of Oscar Wilde, joined Staycity Group CEO Tom Walsh to help cut the ribbon at the very first Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity.

His famous grandfather, who was born in Dublin, has been used as the inspiration for the name and design of the new luxury aparthotel.

Holland commented: “I’’m delighted to be involved with the opening of Wilde. My grandfather took a great interest in aesthetics, particularly in interior design.”

The new 106-room at The Strand is the first under Staycity’s upmarket Wilde brand with future openings already in the pipeline in Edinburgh, Berlin and Manchester.

The company, founded in 2004, has an existing portfolio of Staycity aparthotels in cities across the Europe with a target of providing 5,000 apartments by 2022.
